'A Must-Have Day 1 Purchase': Remedy Bets Big on Control Resonant, as Alan Wake 2 Passes 3 Million Sold

Remedy Entertainment, the developer behind the popular video game series Alan Wake and Control, has announced that their upcoming sequel, Control Resonant, is poised to become a "must-have day-one purchase." This follows the release of their latest financial results, which show a decline in profit, revenue, and cash flow. However, the company remains optimistic about the future of both Control Resonant and its flagship series.

Alan Wake 2, the sequel to the critically acclaimed game that hit the market in October 2023, has finally crossed the 3 million sold mark. Despite this accomplishment, Remedy's CEO Jean-Charles Gaudechon noted that the company's annual revenue has decreased compared to the previous year. The CEO also highlighted that the company had started investing in Control Resonant's marketing efforts, including its reveal trailer at Sony's June State of Play event and a second trailer released during Summer Game Fest.

Gaudechon expressed confidence in Control Resonant, stating that the game has garnered a significant number of pre-orders, with 1.5 million wishlists across PC and consoles. Additionally, the game is currently among the top three pre-ordered PlayStation titles in the U.S., Germany, and Brazil. Gaudechon believes that Control Resonant's distinctiveness and quality will set it apart in the competitive autumn release window.

The upcoming game will be available on all major platforms from day one and priced attractively for an AAA title. Remedy is also actively working on the Max Payne 1 & 2 remakes and an unannounced new project, though the latter's nature remains a mystery. Gaudechon affirmed that Remedy will self-publish its future games, focusing on expanding and growing its established franchises, Control and Alan Wake, as well as the Max Payne series.

Control Resonant is scheduled for release on September 24 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
