국민여론조사 ‘30%’에 촉각…정청래·김민석 모두 ”우리가 우세”

The upcoming National Assembly delegate election for the Democratic Party has seen a heated battle between candidates Choi Cheong-rae and Kim Min-seok, with recent opinion polls indicating a tight race. The election will determine the final vote percentages based on a combination of 70% from party officials and 30% from national public opinion surveys.

Two major companies will conduct random digit dialing (RDD) surveys of 2,000 people each from August 14-15, targeting both Democratic Party supporters and non-supporters. The voting method will be a "preferential voting" system, similar to the past delegate election where Choi Cheong-rae won by a nearly 20-point margin over Kim Min-seok.

In last year's election, Choi Cheong-rae received 60.46%, compared to Kim's 39.54%. A recent poll by real-time monitoring firm Lee Media found Kim with 46.8%, Choi with 35.2%, and Song Yong-gil with 6.5%. Meanwhile, a poll by Naver Research, commissioned by Ace Research Institute, showed Kim and Choi neck-and-neck at 36.9% and 36.7%, respectively, with Song at 7.5%.
