2027: ADC pledges to scrap security votes if elected

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has unveiled a comprehensive set of governance principles and a code of ethics, titled 'The Orange Book,' outlining its plans for government if elected in 2027. The party's proposals focus on increasing transparency, strengthening public accountability, and redirecting resources towards improving the welfare of Nigerians.

One of the most significant measures is the abolition of "security votes" and other opaque expenditure not subject to legislative scrutiny, requiring formal legislative oversight, approval, and audit for all security spending. The ADC also aims to reduce the cost of official travel for public officers by limiting trips to essential engagements and prohibiting per diem payments above approved rates.

The party proposes placing government assets, such as vehicles, residences, and aircraft, under stricter controls, ensuring they are used exclusively for official purposes. Additionally, ADC pledges to combat corruption and diverting public resources more aggressively, treating all forms of looting as banditry. The opposition party also promises to promote a job-led and opportunity-driven economic growth model, encourage private enterprise while ensuring fair competition, and align the education system with national productivity and technological advancement.
