2022/2023 AUCC students ‘shall be eligible’ for certificates under University of Ghana seal – UG clarifies

The University of Ghana has clarified that students admitted to the African University of Communication and Business (AUCB) under the 2022/2023 admission scheme will be eligible to receive their degree certificates under the University of Ghana's seal. Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. Gordon A. Awandare informed the students that their status as students under the affiliation arrangement remains unchanged throughout their program.

The University emphasized that students admitted in 2022/2023 who meet all academic requirements are entitled to the certificates issued under the University of Ghana's seal. The University's response vindicates the students' position that they are entitled to certification under the University of Ghana affiliation framework. The students argue that the matter extends beyond the name on the certificate and involves protecting their legitimate expectations, academic rights, and the terms of their admission into the institution.

They reject Prof. Isaac Abeku Blankson's comments that pursuing University of Ghana certificates could take years and advise accepting AUCB degrees instead. The students insist that their demand is not for a special privilege but for the fulfillment of contractual and academic obligations owed to them. They have urged fellow students to remain calm and vigilant as they await further communication from the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC).
