2 custodians found shot dead inside Chicago elementary school, police say

Two school custodians were found fatally shot inside a Chicago elementary school, according to police. The victims, a 48-year-old woman and a 63-year-old man, were discovered with single gunshot wounds to the head on Monday afternoon at Mark Twain Elementary School. Both individuals were in critical condition when transported to a hospital before being pronounced dead, reported Chicago police.

A weapon was recovered at the scene of the attack. No students were present in the building at the time of the incident, as confirmed by school principal Matthew Moline. Moline addressed the school community in a letter, expressing that members of their school community were affected by this tragic event. The principal stated that the school would provide further information as the investigation continues.

Trumaine Reeves, Executive Vice President of the SEIU Local 73 union, which represents custodial staff, released a statement expressing condolences to the families of the victims and offering support to the staff, students, and families at Mark Twain Elementary School.
