‘Will pure petrol come from your father’s house’: BJP MP defends ethanol blend

Concerns have arisen over the incorporation of ethanol into the petrol supply, leading BJP MP Janardan Mishra to voice his support for the government's stance during a recent event in Rewa. Mishra posed a rhetorical question, "Will pure petrol come from your father's house?" emphasizing the country's reliance on imported crude oil, with 80% of the nation's needs being met through foreign imports.

Brazil, the world's leading producer of ethanol, runs its vehicles on 100% ethanol without any reported issues, Mishra pointed out. He added that India's vehicles are also capable of utilizing ethanol-blended petrol, but some individuals are spreading misinformation against it. He questioned where pure petrol would come from if ethanol production ceased, implying that opposing the policy could have severe consequences on the availability of fuel.

Mishra defended ethanol's safety for vehicle engines, stating that experts in India concur that there are no adverse effects on engines. Despite these assurances, opposition to the ethanol blend persists. Mishra concluded by asserting that India currently boasts the highest employment rates and the lowest inflation levels among all nations.
