A statement released by the university's Director of Information and Public Relations, Comrade Aloysius Emeka Attah, outlined the reason for this decision. According to the university, the ban stems from repeated instances of unrest, violence, destruction, and disruptions linked to these events.
The statement emphasized the management's concerns over unauthorized individuals gaining access to the campus grounds during these gatherings, which poses significant risks to the safety and security of students, faculty, and university property. To maintain order, protect lives, and safeguard property, the university considers such activities as a direct violation of its regulations.
Anyone not a recognized student or staff member found on the university premises during these activities will face arrest and prosecution for breach of peace, trespassing, and disorderly conduct.
