In Colombia, at least 25 people have lost their lives due to a magnitude 7.4 earthquake that struck the western part of the country on Monday morning at 7:34 local time, according to initial reports from the mayors of Pereira, Manizales, and Buenaventura. The tremors have toppled dozens of buildings and resulted in injuries in the heavily affected department of Chocó.

The city of Cali also suffered significant damage, with Mayor Alejandro Eder reporting that at least 25 structures have collapsed, trapping people inside. Eder has requested assistance from Bogotá and Medellín to send rescue teams and urged citizens to remain calm and evacuate buildings if they notice large cracks. At least six Colombian airports in Pereira, Manizales, Quibdó, Armenia, Cartago, and Buenaventura have sustained damage, and aerial operations have been suspended, the Civil Aeronautics reported.
