UAE thwarts cyber attacks on aviation, energy and education sectors

The United Arab Emirates has successfully thwarted sophisticated cyber attacks targeting critical sectors such as aviation, energy, and education. The Cyber Security Council reported that the advanced assaults were intercepted before any systems or services could be compromised. The cyber threats encompassed attempts to breach digital systems and infrastructure, targeting operational accounts and data, and conducting targeted phishing campaigns.

Simultaneously, hackers sought to exploit users as entry points to their intended targets. However, cybersecurity teams swiftly detected and neutralized these threats, traced their origin, and implemented necessary measures to prevent the attacks from spreading.

Last month, the UAE thwarted a series of "sophisticated cyber attacks" on the financial sector, ensuring that no disruptions occurred to services. In May, the country launched the UAE Cyber Factory, an initiative aimed at bolstering the nation's defenses against cyber threats. The program, established by the Cyber Security Council in partnership with CPX Holding, focuses on developing next-generation cybersecurity capabilities through advanced programs, technology, and AI-powered systems.

Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, the head of cyber security for the UAE government, emphasized that the Cyber Factory positions the country as a global hub for advanced cybersecurity and a digital power shaping the future of the industry. He stated, "In the face of rising global challenges, the UAE stands as a leading model that not only protects but also innovates and leads by developing advanced technologies capable of detecting, preventing, and deterring cyber threats effectively."
