TWICE's Jeongyeon Departs, First Member to Leave JYP Entertainment

Tempo reports that TWICE's Jeongyeon has officially left JYP Entertainment, becoming the first member of the popular K-pop group to announce her departure. The 29-year-old singer shared a heartfelt letter on her Instagram account, detailing her decision to move on and express her gratitude. Jeongyeon acknowledged that leaving JYP initially felt daunting, but she found courage from her fellow TWICE members and the group's fans, known as Once. She expressed her appreciation to the JYP family for their support during her time with the agency.

Despite her departure from JYP, Jeongyeon clarified that her future remains closely tied to TWICE. She emphasized that the group will continue to hold a central place in her life, emphasizing that as a member of TWICE, she remains her top priority. In her letter, Jeongyeon thanked her fans for their unwavering support and promised to work hard to create more beautiful memories with the group in the future.

Jeongyeon will soon join South Korean agency Varo Entertainment, which also represents her sister, actress Gong Seung-yeon, and actor Byeon Woo-seok. This move comes weeks after reports surfaced that fellow TWICE member Tzuyu might also be leaving JYP Entertainment. However, the status of the remaining eight TWICE members' solo contracts has not been disclosed at this time. Jeongyeon's departure from JYP marks a new chapter for the singer, as she continues to focus on her activities as a member of TWICE.
