Trump administration revokes over 175,000 US visas

The United States Department of State has recently revoked over 175,000 visas from foreign nationals, as announced by the Trump administration on Monday. The revocations were due to various violations of visa terms, criminal activities, and threats to national security. Most of the revoked visas were a result of law enforcement encounters, with the most common offenses being criminal activities such as assault, theft, and drug crimes.

The government highlighted several cases, including a foreign national charged with felony rape and sexual battery, as well as the abuse of a mentally disabled victim. Another individual was arrested for violent resistance to arrest, drunk driving, and domestic violence. One foreign national was accused of felony kidnapping, human trafficking, and the sexual exploitation of a minor.

Additionally, a foreigner was charged with over a dozen counts of possessing child sexual abuse material, while another was accused of sodomizing a child and committing aggravated sexual battery.

The revoked visas were not limited to violent crimes; they also included individuals found guilty of abusing the immigration system. For example, a foreign teacher was arrested for sexually assaulting a young student, while another was caught driving under the influence with a blood alcohol level three times above the legal limit. The U.S. also sanctioned several foreigners involved in a massive Medicaid scam, billing for over $5 million in fraudulent services.

The revocations were a result of the continuous vetting operations conducted by the State Department, which reaffirmed its commitment to safeguard communities from individuals who abuse visas.
