Thai soldier receives treatment after disruptive act on Malaysia-Bangkok flight

Thailand's Defence Ministry has confirmed that a man who caused a disturbance on a Malaysia-Bangkok flight was a military personnel member receiving mental health treatment. Footage of the incident, posted on Social Hunter 2022's Facebook page, showed the Thai man wearing a white T-shirt trying to leave his seat and demanding the aircraft stop.

The flight crew tried to calm the man, but he resisted. Passengers eventually restrained him and tied him to his seat after he continued his disruptive behavior. According to the Defence Ministry spokesperson Surasan Kongsiri, the man was a military personnel under the Office of Defence Policy and Planning, suffering from a mental health condition that emerged unexpectedly during the flight.

The military personnel member was subsequently transferred to Phramongkutklao Hospital for further medical treatment, with his identity not disclosed. This incident follows several recent cases of disturbances involving air travel and airports, including a group of Chinese fans causing trouble at Suvarnabhumi International Airport and a foreign man exiting an aircraft through an emergency door in February.
