Taylor Fresh Foods recalls jalapeños after supplier discloses potential salmonella contamination

Taylor Fresh Foods, the parent company of Taylor Farms, has announced a voluntary recall of certain products containing jalapeños due to potential salmonella contamination. This recall follows a recent voluntary recall of iceberg lettuce products from Taylor Farms, sourced from central Mexico, due to a possible link to a multistate cyclospora outbreak affecting people across the United States.

The recall is a result of Coast Citrus Distributors voluntarily recalling fresh jalapeños due to a potential salmonella contamination. The list of recalled products includes guacamole, pico de gallo, and taco dip, among others. These items were distributed across multiple states and carry a "Best If Used By" date up to and including August 16, 2026. The contaminated products were sold at major retailers such as Kroger, Stop & Shop, Target, Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, and Walmart.

The Food and Drug Administration and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are collaborating with state and local partners to investigate illnesses linked to a multistate outbreak of salmonella infections originating from fresh jalapeños supplied by Coast Citrus Distributors. A grower in Sinaloa, Mexico, a supplier to Coast Citrus Distributors, has been identified as the potential source of the outbreak.

Taylor Fresh Foods has ceased sourcing products from this farmer and will now obtain products from alternative suppliers. The company is currently unaware of any reported illnesses linked to its products containing jalapeños.
