Sonu Nigam on singing Mohammed Rafi’s song during surgery: ‘It happened organically’

During an unexpected and inspiring turn of events, singer Sonu Nigam surprised his medical team and fans by singing Mohammed Rafi's iconic song "Suhani Raat Dhal Chuki" while undergoing surgery. The video, shared on his Instagram account, revealed the moment to be a spontaneous performance that occurred organically during the operation.

Sonu Nigam explained that his doctor, Dr. Nilesh Sathbhai, was a fan of his music and had been playing his songs throughout the procedure. The singer further revealed that the doctors found the impromptu performance amusing and enjoyable, as it was the first time they had ever experienced a patient singing during surgery. Despite the unusual setting, Sonu Nigam continued to perform, singing multiple songs during the procedure, which he later shared with the medical team as a token of appreciation.

The singer, who has long been a devoted admirer of Rafi's music, also disclosed that the surgery was related to a recurring growth on his left ring finger, with the growth returning after a previous surgery four months prior. The doctors are currently uncertain about the next steps in his treatment, attributing the recurring growth to a potential arthritis condition.
