Singapore MP Tan Kiat How celebrated an extraordinary National Day on August 10 after his wife's water broke during the parade, heralding the birth of their third child, Micah, the following morning. Tan shared on Facebook that the new arrival was the family's "best National Day gift," describing the experience as especially memorable.

Despite the unexpected turn of events, both older children, Isaac and Ayla, managed to stay for the entire parade, fireworks, and pledge, with Micah patiently enduring the festivities. Tan swiftly took his wife to the hospital after the parade, dropping the children off at home. The newborn Micah arrived the day after the parade.

Tan expressed his profound gratitude and blessing for the family's expansion, acknowledging the medical team that cared for his wife and newborn son, declaring, "Our best National Day gift." Tan, who serves as senior minister of state for digital development and information and health, now proudly counts his newborn Micah as his third child. His eldest, Isaac, celebrated his sixth birthday on August 5, and Ayla was born in October 2023.
