S. Korean shooting team targets 5 gold medals at Asian Games

JINCHEON, South Korea, August 10 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's national shooting team aims to claim five gold medals at the upcoming Asian Games in Japan, according to their head coach Chang Kap-seok. During the media day at the Jincheon National Team Training Center, Chang revealed the team's objective during the 2024 Paris Olympics, where South Korea achieved three gold medals and six overall medals, the second-highest total behind China.

South Korea had previously won 14 medals at the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. The team, which will compete in 12 events, includes Olympic champions Ban Hyo-jin, Yang Ji-in, and Oh Ye-jin. While Ban, at 18, is competing in her first Asian Games, she aims to qualify for the final and bring youthful energy to her team. Yang, 23, will use this opportunity to overcome her previous mechanical malfunction and win against herself.

Accompanying the younger competitors are veterans So Seung-seob, 47, and Lee Bo-na, 45, who share a mutual learning experience.
