Rangers chairman expects up to five more signings

Rangers chairman Andrew Cavenagh anticipates securing three to five additional players before the transfer window concludes. The Scottish football club has already bolstered its roster with nine new signings this summer, yet they are currently sitting on just one point following two matches under new manager Derek McInnes. This poor start placed them 2-1 down against Polish side Jagiellonia Bialystok in the first leg of their Europa League third qualifying round tie.

During an open forum in Glasgow, Cavenagh expressed disappointment with the team's performance, stating that they are actively endeavoring to bring back success. He hinted at the possibility of more transfers both in and out of the club during the remaining window. McInnes, who has been under pressure due to Rangers' underwhelming season, left the meeting frustrated.

The club will face either Larne or Iberia Tbilisi from Georgia in the second leg on Thursday. Cavenagh acknowledged that their ambition for a sustainable winning culture is yet to be realized, but he is more optimistic than he was a year ago. CEO Jim Gillespie highlighted how McInnes' appointment aligns with the club's desired style of play, but expressed regret that the VAR call leading to Hibernian's penalty in their recent defeat was not deemed clear and obvious by the SFA.
