Prabowo Urges Pertamina, PLN to Streamline Subsidiaries

President Prabowo Subianto has directed state-owned enterprises like PT Pertamina and PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) to reduce the number of subsidiaries they possess. This order came during a private meeting in Bogor Regency on August 9, 2026, attended by several ministers and the President Director of PT Pertamina, Simon Aloysius Mantiri.

Speaking to reporters, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that the aim of this reduction is to enhance agility and productivity of SOEs by streamlining their bureaucratic structure. Teddy emphasized that a shorter chain of command should lead to more efficient governance and quicker decision-making. In addition to the subsidiaries matter, Prabowo received updates on the progress of the biodiesel mandate, known as the B50 program, and the infrastructure readiness for the upcoming bioethanol mandate.

Simon Mantiri reported on the B50 program's advancement, which Prabowo launched in July 2026. This program requires 50% palm oil-based biodiesel to be mixed into diesel fuel, representing Indonesia's first nationwide implementation of such a mandate, making the country the first globally to do so. Prabowo highlighted that biodiesel is not only a technological feat but also a testament to Indonesia's ability to utilize its domestic resources for the benefit of its citizens.
