Police to fund treatment of child rescued from Anambra native doctor

The Anambra State Police Command has committed to covering the full medical costs of the sole survivor among four children rescued from a native doctor's house in Umuoduba Village, Ideani, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra state. The newly-appointed Commissioner of Police, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, announced this during a press conference at the command's headquarters in Awka, on Monday.

The children, aged between six and 15 years, were discovered unconscious at the native doctor's residence under unspecified circumstances. Three of the children, aged six, nine, and 12 years, were pronounced dead despite intensive medical efforts. The fourth child, the only survivor, is currently receiving intensive care and fighting for survival.

CP Ama expressed sorrow over the incident, commending the police force and other security agencies for their cooperation in addressing the crisis. He vowed to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragedy and reassured the state's residents that the command would uphold the rule of law, protect lives and property, and maintain public safety and order throughout Anambra State.
