Polavaram celebrates the first International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples

Polavaram District Collector K. Dinesh Kumar addressed the inaugural celebration of the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples in Rampachodavaram, pledging improved governance and welfare for the tribal community residing in the district. Joined by Rampachodavaram MLA Miriyala Sirisha Devi and State Commission for Scheduled Tribes S. Bojji Reddi, tribal representatives from the Koyas and Konda Reddi communities marched in a parade dressed in traditional garb.

The Koya tribal dancers' performance of the Kommu Koya dance garnered significant attention. Kumar emphasized the ongoing initiatives to raise awareness about the Panchayats (Extension to the Scheduled Areas) Act, 1996. Meanwhile, Sirisha Devi urged the tribals to acknowledge the need for personal sacrifices for the development projects proposed in their tribal areas.
