PN-BN talks on Melaka polls will exclude Bersatu, says Takiyuddin

Perikatan Nasional (PN) secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan has clarified that the PN's discussions with Barisan Nasional (BN) regarding the Melaka state elections will not include Bersatu. According to PN, the negotiations are still in their early stages and expected to occur soon. The talks may differ from those in Negeri Sembilan due to the distinct state structure and seat allocations.

Notably, PN lacks representation in the Melaka state assembly but has parliamentary seats in the region. They will deliberate on several factors, such as the number of seats (whether 20 or 21, including the Rembia state seat) that the parties aspire to retain. Tensions have escalated between Bersatu and PAS after PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang asserted that Bersatu's membership in PN had been terminated—a claim refuted by PN chairman Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar.

Takiyuddin emphasized that PN is prepared to address any concerns raised by the Registrar of Societies in response to PA's chief Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz's allegations of PAS violating PN's constitution and decisions. When questioned about reports of Pakatan Harapan (PH) engaging in similar talks with BN for Melaka, Takiyuddin stated that he has no information on the matter and suggested seeking Umno's confirmation on the issue.
