PICTORIAL: Religious division failed in Oyo, Makinde says at Hijrah celebration

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has emphasized the importance of religious harmony in the state while celebrating Hijrah 1448/2026 with Muslim faithful. Speaking in a statement, Makinde highlighted his administration's commitment to resisting attempts to divide Oyo State along religious lines throughout its tenure. He praised the support from Muslims, Christians, traditional worshippers, and those without religious affiliation that helped maintain peace and unity in the state.

Makinde marked the occasion on the first day of his annual leave and expressed gratitude for the diverse support. As this is his final Hijrah celebration as governor, he wished residents a prosperous and peaceful Islamic year and hoped that the incoming administration would also prioritize peace and people's welfare.
