PH-BN talks could be political gimmick ahead of Melaka polls - Takiyuddin

KOTA BARU: PN deputy chief Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan has raised doubts that Pakatan Harapan's claim of negotiations with Barisan Nasional is more than a political strategy ahead of the Melaka election. He stated that no assumptions can be made as PN has not received any confirmation about the alleged talks. Takiyuddin, who is also Pas secretary-general, said that if there are negotiations between PH and BN, it would be premature to draw conclusions until the matter is verified.

He questioned Umno on the matter, asking if they could confirm the talks. Regarding PN's negotiations with Umno, Takiyuddin said that discussions could be held directly, without the need for formal letters. He also said that the decision to negotiate seat allocation is still under consideration by Pas, which has a dedicated negotiation committee.

PKR information chief Fahmi Fadzil said that PKR is in discussions with all parties, including BN, ahead of the Melaka election. He welcomed Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh's openness to cross-party engagement and PKR acting chairman Adam Adli Abdul Halim's preliminary discussions. Fahmi also welcomed BN chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's statement about the coalition's readiness to discuss seat arrangements for Melaka and the federal level ahead of the next general election.
