Pakistani man nabbed for using immigration dept logo on vehicle

Immigration authorities in Malaysia have detained a Pakistani man and an Indonesian woman for allegedly using the immigration department's official logo and warning lights on a vehicle, following the viral spread of a video depicting the incident. The operation took place at PV3 Platinum Hill Condominium in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur, just 24 hours after the video surfaced on social media.

Zakaria Shaaban, the director-general of immigration, stated that the Pakistani man was apprehended during a special operation at 4.30pm yesterday, while an Indonesian woman was also detained following an inspection of the premises. The video in question was allegedly recorded in April 2025 and uploaded to a WhatsApp status by the man's wife on August 7.

The Pakistani man was charged under Sections 12(1)(f) of the Passports Act 1966 and 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63, while the Indonesian woman faced charges under Section 15(1)(c) of the same law. Following the arrests, authorities traced the vehicle to a car wash in Kuala Lumpur and detained the vehicle owner, who is also a Pakistani national, along with eight other foreign workers.

The vehicle owner was under investigation for installing the logo and warning lights for personal use without a valid purpose, while the eight workers were suspected of lacking valid travel documents and were being investigated for lacking proper travel documents under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63. The vehicle owner claimed that he was unaware that his actions constituted an offense and stated that he had removed the logo and warning lights before the video went viral.
