OUTA’s Ali Gule calls for justice for Babita Deokaran at monument unveiling

At the unveiling of a monument for Babita Deokaran, Ali Gule from OUTA called for justice and accountability in South Africa, emphasizing the ongoing struggles against corruption and crime. Gule stressed that Babita Deokaran would not receive justice until the corrupt individuals remain in the streets. He questioned the absence of certain figures, such as Hangwani Maumela, at the Madlanga Commission, which is the only one yielding results.

Gule did not name names but alluded to those who distort the truth while the van is waiting for them outside. He expressed his hope that this commission could become permanent. OUTA has consistently protested against Babita Deokaran's case and will continue until the perpetrators are apprehended. The organization plans to march at the crime scene and pay tribute to Deokaran again in two weeks.

Gule stressed that crime and corruption know no political boundaries and that they are committed to holding everyone, regardless of their position or social status, accountable for their actions. He criticized the lack of willingness to implement good policies and the necessity for the government to provide a safe environment for whistleblowers.
