Ondo: Abducted farmer dies in kidnappers’ den

In Ondo State, one of the two farmers abducted by gunmen has died in the kidnappers' compound. The Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun Corps, reported that five other kidnap victims have been rescued in separate operations across the state. Commander Adetunji Adeleye disclosed this while presenting 14 suspects in Akure.

The kidnapping occurred a few days ago, when gunmen abducted two farmers in Parubber Community, Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Local Government Area, demanding a N100 million ransom for their release. Amotekun operatives received a distress call and launched a rescue operation along with the Department of State Services (DSS). The operation faced deception from the kidnappers, who misled security personnel about the victims' location.

Eventually, the victims were found deep within a reserve forest, but one, a woman, could not be revived due to exhaustion. Adeleye also mentioned the arrest of suspected kidnappers in Oyo State. In another operation, suspects of a kidnapping syndicate were apprehended in Odigbo Local Government Area. Two suspects, Akinlolu and Akintimi, were arrested for alleged firearm possession.

Adeleye assured residents and potential investors of the state's security, mentioning the rescue of four men in the Ala-Dada axis that night.
