ODM, UDA constitute two committees for coalition framework

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) have decided to form two committees for their coalition framework ahead of the 2027 General Election. President William Ruto, alongside ODM Party Leader Oburu Oginga, announced the formation during a two-day retreat in Naivasha.

The first committee will create a coalition framework, while the second will prepare a joint manifesto. Ruto highlighted that this will formalize the political partnership already established and give it a clear mandate to build upon past progress and present a unified program for the Kenyan people's future transformation.

ODM has nominated six members for the Joint Manifesto Committee, with the ODM Executive Director as an ex-officio member. On the other hand, Kenya Kwanza has nominated five individuals, with the UDA Executive Director serving as an ex-officio member. The committee's task is to identify shared priorities, harmonize areas requiring consensus, and develop practical policies addressing Kenya's economic, social, and governance needs.

Additionally, each party will nominate five members for a second joint team to prepare the coalition framework agreement, recommend governance structures, and propose leadership arrangements. UDA and ODM leaders were tasked to begin work immediately, as the coalition's mandate in 2027 must be supported by a comprehensive program for Kenya's future.

Ruto praised the coalition for having a solid development record and a progressive plan, assuring Kenyans of a peaceful election where everyone can express their policies. Oginga expressed confidence in the coalition's landslide victory in the 2027 General Election, emphasizing the partnership's foundation on democratic principles and inclusivity.
