North Korean missile veered 15 km off course before killing family of five

On August 10, Ukrainian military intelligence deputy chief Vadym Skibitskyi disclosed that a North Korean ballistic missile launched by Russia missed its intended target by about 15 kilometers before destroying a home and killing members of the Voronov family in Radushne, near Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine. Skibitskyi stated, "One of the latest strikes, in which a North Korean missile effectively killed an entire family, confirmed that it deviated from its target by around 15 kilometers."

He further explained that North Korea receives benefits in exchange for supplying Russia with ballistic missiles, adding, "North Korea gets the opportunity to use its weapons in real combat conditions."

Skibitskyi also commented on Iran's assistance to Russia, noting that it is currently providing partial support compared to the level seen between 2022 and 2023. Russia is reportedly capable of independently manufacturing attack drones and FPV drones, using different warheads, and employing 12- and 16-channel Kometa systems and CRP antennas.

A direct hit from a Russian ballistic missile on a house in Radushne, on the outskirts of Kryvyi Rih, on July 30, claimed the lives of the parents, their children, and their 18-month-old grandson. Ukrainian Air Force spokesperson Yurii Ihnat suggested that Russia might have utilized North Korean KN-23 missiles during their recent airstrikes in the area.

Reuters, citing two sources, reported that Russia might have received a new shipment of weapons from North Korea. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy mentioned in his evening address that Russia may have employed North Korean ballistic missiles in strikes on Radushne. Defense official Andrii Chernyak revealed on August 5 that North Korea had deployed a missile unit in western Russia, likely equipped with 120 ballistic missiles and six launchers.
