‘No political talks’: NCP(SP) MPs led by Supriya Sule meet Modi amid NDA merger buzz

Eight MPs from the NCP(SP) party, led by its working president Supriya Sule, met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday. The briefing, which lasted approximately 25 minutes, was held in Modi's Parliament House office following reports suggesting the NCP(SP) might join the BJP-led NDA. However, the meeting did not involve any political discussions, with Sule affirming the visit was not political.

Modi inquired about the health of NCP(SP) chief Sharad Pawar, speaking highly of Pawar's political journey and working style. The MPs raised concerns about pending infrastructure projects, farmers, healthcare, and constituency-specific issues during the meeting. They also discussed the drought situation in Beed, requesting water release from Ujani dam to Manjara dam for relief.

Other matters raised included the demand for increased financial assistance for MPs under the PM CARES Fund, the naming of Navi Mumbai International Airport after D B Patil, and the need for improved cancer treatment facilities. The conferring of the Bharat Ratna on several social reformers and faster progress on infrastructure projects were also on the agenda.
