Nashik: 722 Alarm Chain-Pulling Incidents Reported In Bhusawal Division In Four Months, 674 Penalised

Railway authorities in Nashik are closely monitoring passengers who misuse alarm chains for non-emergency purposes during train journeys. The alarm chain is intended solely for emergency situations, and unauthorized use is considered a violation of the Railway Act. Between April and July 2026, a total of 722 alarm chain-pulling incidents were reported in the Bhusawal Division during the financial year 2026–27. Out of these, 674 individuals were penalized, resulting in a total fine collection of ₹2,36,410.

According to railway officials, pulling the alarm chain due to trivial reasons such as a passenger missing the train due to tardiness, belongings falling onto the tracks, accidental chain pulls, or other minor issues constitutes a breach of railway regulations. Such actions not only cause delays for the passengers on that specific train but also disrupt the schedules of other trains sharing the same route. The unnecessary chain pulling can cause significant inconvenience and hardship to hundreds of passengers.

In response to these issues, the Bhusawal Division is closely monitoring such unwarranted incidents and taking appropriate action against those found guilty of violating the rules. Railway authorities have urged passengers to reach the station well before the scheduled departure of their train. Additionally, they advise passengers to carry minimal luggage wherever possible.

For senior citizens and individuals with disabilities, battery-operated vehicles and wheelchairs are available at the Station Manager's office to help them reach the platform on time. The Bhusawal Division has strongly urged passengers to avoid using the alarm chain except in genuine emergencies and to cooperate in ensuring smooth and punctual railway operations.
