Miti continues to strengthen E&E sector to ensure Malaysia remains global technology supply player

George Town, Malaysia - The Investment, Trade and Industry Ministry (Miti) remains committed to bolstering the electrical and electronics (E&E) sector in order to maintain Malaysia's role as a key player in the global technology supply chain. Deputy Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Sim Tze Tzin emphasized that the E&E sector is crucial to Malaysia's position in the global supply chain, contributing to the nation's high-tech semiconductors, advanced sensors, and telecommunications industries.

Situated in Malaysia, particularly in Penang and the Northern Region, the E&E sector hosts numerous world-class technology manufacturers. As one of the critical locations within the global value chain, Malaysia is involved in semiconductor assembly, testing, and packaging activities. Sim, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for Bayan Baru, stressed Miti's attention to export control compliance to ensure the country's technology sector and international trade function smoothly.

In addition, Sim highlighted that Malaysia's impressive trade performance during the first half of the year presents a chance for local businesses to enhance workers' welfare, which significantly contributes to their achievements. He hoped that the successful companies would share their prosperity with their employees through salary increases and bonuses.

Sim further discussed the Northern Region Strategic Trade Act (STA) Clinic, which brought together 86 participants. This annual event offers Miti an opportunity to engage directly with industry players, providing them with advisory services on product classification, permit applications, dealings with licensing agencies, and internal audits.

Sim underscored the importance of collaboration between the government and industry players to ensure Malaysia continues to be an appealing destination for investment and the production of high-impact technology.
