Meta’s latest AI model wants to live on your PC

Meta's Muse Glimmer is an innovative artificial intelligence model developed by Meta that aims to function directly on your personal computer, whether it be a Mac or a PC. This model, which boasts an impressive 30-billion parameter capacity, is specifically engineered for agentic AI applications.

These applications include the ability to code, utilize tools, manage multi-step tasks, and recover from errors. Unlike most contemporary AI models that require cloud computing to deliver swift and dependable responses, Muse Glimmer operates independently of the internet. This means that the user's prompt and associated data remain on their device, eliminating the need for data transmission to a server and back.

Muse Glimmer is currently accessible on Hugging Face, and Meta is actively working on integrating support for other popular local AI tools. The model's on-device operation addresses many of the inherent constraints of on-device AI. For instance, unlike cloud-based AI models that necessitate a consistent internet connection to function, Muse Glimmer does not suffer from this limitation.
