Man with knife in Clementi disarmed by member of public, taken to hospital with self-inflicted wounds

At approximately 12:20pm on Monday, August 10, a 34-year-old man armed with a knife found himself in Clementi, Singapore. The situation unfolded when the man was spotted by witnesses who later described him as repeatedly stabbing himself. A member of the public, a 56-year-old male, intervened and disarmed the 34-year-old before police arrived at Block 441B Clementi Avenue 3.

Upon arrival, police confirmed the man was conscious with self-inflicted injuries and transported him to a nearby hospital. The man who disarmed the attacker, though armed with a knife, did not sustain any injuries and was also taken to the hospital as a precaution. Witnesses reported seeing the attacker bleed from various parts of his body, and the area was covered in blood.

Emergency services, including the Singapore Civil Defence Force and local hospitals, responded to the scene. The incident underscores the importance of public safety and the role civilians play in such emergencies.
