Magnitude 7.4 quake rocks western Colombia, killing at least 111 people

A 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck western Colombia on Monday, resulting in at least 111 deaths, 87 injuries and substantial damage to hundreds of buildings. At least 61 structures completely collapsed. President Abelardo de la Espriella declared an emergency and pledged to expedite funds for recovery efforts. The quake's epicenter was in San Jose Del Palmar, a community of around 4,800 people in the Choco region, roughly 250 miles west of Bogotá. The tremor also affected neighboring Ecuador and Panama, though minimal damage was reported there.
