Lee to check progress on AI-related investment initiative

President Lee Jae Myung is scheduled to lead a meeting on Monday to review the progress of an ambitious investment initiative focused on semiconductor manufacturing and artificial intelligence (AI) data centers. This is the second meeting of its kind since the Lee-led administration announced three megaprojects in late June, detailing plans for significant investments in a semiconductor production hub and AI infrastructure across regional areas.

The primary objective of Monday's 2 p.m. meeting is to address the urgent need to accelerate the implementation of these investment plans, as well as strategies to disseminate the benefits of these investments throughout the country and across various sectors of the economy. The gathering will feature key figures including the president's chief of staff Kang Hoon-sik, the presidential policy chief Kim Yong-beom, Prime Minister Han Seong-sook, government ministers, along with top executives from Samsung Electronics Co. and SK Inc. Officials are prepared to provide updates on the current status of the investment plans and to introduce measures aimed at ensuring a stable supply of electricity and water necessary for constructing the semiconductor production cluster.
