Late night terrorist attack on Upper Swat police post foiled: DPO

A terrorist attack on the Chatkekal police post near Jarogo Waterfall in Upper Swat was thwarted on Sunday night, according to District Police Officer Mushtaq Ahmad. More than twelve terrorists surrounded the police station and engaged in a firefight with the personnel stationed there. The police responded with effective gunfire, forcing the attackers to flee.

Two terrorists were injured during the exchange of fire. In response to the incident, security personnel have increased surveillance in the area, and further details are being determined. The DPO commended the police personnel for their prompt response and bravery, emphasizing that Swat Police remains committed to combating terrorism.

This attack occurred a week after a suicide bombing near the Kabal Police Station, which killed seventeen people, including seven policemen. On Friday, thousands of people in Swat district demonstrated against lawlessness and pledged to uphold peace. In other news, a joint intelligence-based operation in Bannu's Miryan area resulted in the killing of one terrorist and the arrest of several suspects.

The operation was carried out under the direction of KP Inspector General Zulfiqar Hameed and the supervision of Bannu DPO Mohammad Furqan Bilal. The Counter-Terrorism Department reported that the slain terrorist was armed with a Kalashnikov, three magazines, and a bandolier, while several suspects were detained during the search and raid operations.

Bannu district has experienced numerous security incidents in recent months, leading to intensified counterterrorism operations by police and security forces.
