Daredevil actor Charlie Cox recently weighed in on a scene from Spider-Man: Brand New Day involving the character of Frank Castle, also known as the Punisher. Spoilers ahead: the Punisher declared in the film that he had never had a friend like Peter Parker, the titular superhero.

Cox's comments came while he was attending MCM Comic-Con with his co-star from Daredevil: Born Again, Deborah Ann Woll, who plays Karen Page. When asked about the scene, Woll noted that she felt more personally affected by the statement, as she and Punisher had a close bond in the series.

Cox agreed with Woll, stating that while Matt Murdock and Frank Castle had a mutual understanding and respect, they were not friends. He described their relationship as "complicated." Cox suggested that defining the nature of Daredevil and Punisher's relationship was a difficult task.

The Punisher's absence from Daredevil: Born Again's sophomore season was due to him having his own one-off Marvel Special Presentation, while Brand New Day was scheduled for production. It is unclear if Frank Castle will return for the show's third season, which is set to begin airing next spring. Meanwhile, Disney and Marvel are reportedly cutting back on their live-action shows, with Wonder Man Season 2 recently being scrapped.
