Houthi escalation driven by Iranian request to widen conflict, analyst says

Political analyst Fares Al-Beel claims Iran prompted the recent Houthi escalation, aiming to complicate matters and broaden the conflict. In an interview with Al Arabiya FM, Dr. Al-Beel stated that the Yemeni militia's current strategy is to exhaust opponents and target multiple fronts within Yemen and beyond. The Houthi forces are focused on the Red Sea, conducting attacks on Yemeni soil, and attempting to strike sites inside Saudi Arabia.

Despite numerous chances presented by the legitimate government to resolve the issue, international efforts have been unsuccessful, allowing the Houthis to enhance their military strength. Dr. Al-Beel emphasizes that the international community now bears responsibility for addressing the threat posed by the Houthis, which jeopardizes global security and the world economy. Meanwhile, the United Nations continues to call for restraint without taking significant action.
