OpenAI has unveiled a new premium tier for its ChatGPT Business subscription service, priced up to $100 more per month. This "Premium" Business tier offers customers five times more usage than the standard Business seats, and is not subject to the five-hour per day limit on advanced features. While the price for Standard Business tier seats is $25 per month or $20 per month when billed annually, Premium Business seats cost $125 per month or $100 per month when billed annually.

The exact features included in the Premium seats depend on the specific model and task type, with GPT 5.5 Instant use being "virtually unlimited" and GPT 5.5 Thinking and Pro limited to 3,000 requests per week and 15 requests per month, respectively. For those who qualify, OpenAI is offering $100 in workspace service credits for customers who add a Premium seat to their Business workspace, but only the first 10,000 customers to sign up for the waitlist will receive these credits.

While the new tier may appeal to customers who feel they are limited by the current Business model, some question whether it is worth the extra cost, especially with the rise of cheaper open-weight AI models.
