Here’s a look at ridings where voters can expect federal byelections to be called

Voters in several Canadian ridings will be electing new federal representatives due to members of Parliament from four major parties taking on diplomatic appointments, provincial races, and retirement. The prime minister must call an election between 11 and 180 days after a member's resignation. A byelection campaign can last 36 to 50 days, with voting occurring 47 days to seven months after the seat opens.

In Quebec, Richard Martel resigned to take a Senate appointment and will hold a byelection on August 31. Nate Erskine-Smith stepped down after failing to secure the Liberal party leadership and won Beaches-East York with 67% of the vote. Jonathan Wilkinson resigned to become Canada’s ambassador to the European Union and won his seat with 59.9% of the vote. Cathay Wagantall, Alexandre Boulerice, Simon-Pierre Savard-Tremblay, and Steven Guilbeault are also expected to resign and hold byelections in their respective ridings.
