GSU officer fatally stabbed by masked men in Bondo

A serving General Service Unit (GSU) corporal was killed by masked attackers who broke into his home in Bondo, Siaya County, early Monday morning. Cpl Henry Okello Omondi Ojudi, 44, was attacked at his residence in Got Nyapong Village around 2:30 am. Police were alerted at 4:30 am, and officers from Bondo and Lwala Kotieno arrived at the scene.

Two masked men, armed with a panga and a sword, entered the house, attacked Ojudi, and dragged him outside where they inflicted additional injuries. His wife managed to escape unharmed. The attackers fled the scene immediately after the attack, and nothing was taken from the house. The motive for the killing is unknown. The scene was processed, and Ojudi's body was transferred to Bondo Sub-County Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination.

Detectives are now investigating the attack to identify the assailants and determine the motive behind the killing.

In a separate incident in Mbeere South, Embu County, a 64-year-old man named Joseph Njeru Ngari was killed by two masked men who ambushed him after he left Kiritiri Market with his second wife. Ngari was found in a thicket at Kamutuanjiru Village around 2:30 am on Monday. Police were alerted and officers from Kiritiri Police Station proceeded to the scene.

Ngari and his wife had stopped at the location after he wanted to meet a person he knew before returning home. When he approached the two men in the thicket, one of them attacked him while his wife fled. The assailant stole Ngari's motorcycle and fled the scene. Ngari sustained deep cuts on his face, particularly around his left eye and nose.

The motive for the killing is still under investigation, along with the identification of the suspects and the recovery of the stolen motorcycle.
