Government to preserve tribal heritage while promoting education and jobs, says official

State government officials have emphasized their commitment to preserving tribal culture, traditions, arts, and dance forms while simultaneously providing quality education and employment opportunities to tribal communities, as stated by Tribal Welfare Department Secretary M. Mallikarjuna Nayak. Speaking at the World Adivasi Day celebrations in Vijayawada on Monday, Nayak highlighted the government's dedication to the overall development of tribal communities, ensuring that their rich cultural heritage remains intact.

The Tribal Welfare Department and Tribal Cultural Research and Training Mission organized a tribal dance festival and art exhibition as part of the festivities. Nayak urged tribal students to pursue modern education while maintaining their cultural connections. The government is taking measures to enhance educational standards and infrastructure in tribal welfare residential and ashram schools, he added.

Additionally, efforts are being made to gain national and international recognition for tribal art forms. The Tribal Research Mission will compile a comprehensive database of tribal artists, while traditional musical instruments will be collected and preserved. Training programs will be provided to emerging artistes and instructors to foster their talents.

The government is collaborating with the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs to strengthen the tribal cultural sector. Nayak stressed that tribal dance forms should be accorded the same recognition and encouragement as classical art forms like Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam. The event was attended by Tribal Cultural Research and Training Mission Director Mandarani, members of the Tribal Advisory Council, ST Cell leaders, Tribal Welfare Department officials, TRM officials, tribal artists, students, and art enthusiasts.
