Gachagua to review Ruto’s 4-year record in national address

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua will review President William Ruto’s four-year tenure in a national address on Tuesday, outlining the administration's achievements and challenges faced by Kenyans. During a public forum in Narok County on Monday, Gachagua announced the "Ruto at Four" speech, stating he would assess the President's performance since taking office.

He added that he would explain why he believes Ruto should step down, potentially intensifying the political race leading up to the 2027 General Election. Gachagua's address will examine the work done by the Ruto administration over the past four years and its negative impact on Kenyans. The announcement follows Gachagua's growing criticism of Ruto, who he accused of losing support in key regions in May.

He also called for greater unity between Maasai and Kikuyu communities, urging young people to intermarry, do business together, and vote as one. The Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) led by Gachagua is expanding its base beyond Mount Kenya, as evidenced by the defection of 10 Kajiado MCAs from the ODM, UDA, and Jubilee parties to join DCP.
