Bhubaneswar witnessed a torch rally organized by the Odisha Youth Congress, targeting the BJP government over alleged exam paper leaks and errors in school textbooks. The rally was led by the Odisha Youth Congress president, Bhakta Charan Das, who addressed reporters and expressed that students and youth across the nation have been awakened following Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's call during the Chhatron Ki Goonj event in Prayagraj.

The Odisha Congress president also highlighted that the situation in the state concerning education and student concerns has worsened, with question papers for school students being leaked and over 3,000 errors found in textbooks. The Congress leaders demanded accountability from the state government, stating that the minister remains incapable of addressing the issue.

The protests in Odisha follow similar demonstrations in Jharkhand, where students are demanding accountability over alleged irregularities in the JPSC-JSSC examinations. BJP state general secretary Amar Kumar Bauri criticized the Jharkhand government for allowing repeated irregularities, including paper leaks, rigged arrangements, and the involvement of impersonators in the recruitment examinations.

Bauri also mentioned the JPSC 14th Preliminary Test controversy, where viral OMR sheets led to student protests that have been ongoing for 16 days. The BJP general secretary alleged that the government attempted to derail the student movement, deploying its NSUI wing and Jharkhand Chhatra Morcha to spread misinformation and create divisions among the protesters.
