Free State authorities warn residents of severe weather conditions

The Free State authorities have issued a warning to residents about severe weather conditions. The South African Weather Service has predicted very cold and windy weather, along with snowfall and disruptive rainfall in certain parts of the province. The areas affected include Phuthaditjhaba, Wepener, Clarens, Aliwal North, and Smithfield.

Forecaster Muneiwa Singo stated that scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to clear out from the west on Thursday. This weather system will bring cold and windy conditions over most of the province, with snowfall possible in the western and eastern regions, as well as along the Lutu border, lasting until Wednesday. Authorities have issued two yellow-level warnings: a Level 2 warning for damaging winds and a Level 2 warning for disruptive rainfall, particularly in the southern and eastern parts of the province.
