Faridabad boy cycling dies after coming under e-rickshaw a day before birthday

A seven-year-old boy named Saksham Rawat from Faridabad succumbed to severe injuries after being crushed by an e-rickshaw while cycling with his friends near his residence, a day before his birthday. Saksham's parents, originally from Fatehabad, Uttar Pradesh, had moved to Faridabad several years ago. The tragic incident unfolded on Saturday afternoon around 5:30 PM when Saksham, along with his friends, was cycling in the lane outside his home.

He was heading back to his house when he reached a T-junction, collided with an e-rickshaw loaded with mineral water bottles, and was immediately crushed beneath the vehicle.

The e-rickshaw had partially climbed onto a ramp of a nearby house, causing it to tilt and lose balance. Despite the driver's efforts to lift the rickshaw, Saksham sustained fatal injuries to his head and chest. CCTV footage confirmed the collision, showing Saksham's bicycle hitting the e-rickshaw from the opposite direction. Neighbors raised an alarm, and Saksham's father and family quickly rushed to the scene.

They lifted the overturned e-rickshaw, extricated the child, and rushed him to a private hospital in Sector 19 where doctors tragically declared him dead upon arrival. A first information report was filed against the e-rickshaw driver under sections 106 and 271 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and the body was subsequently handed over to the family for cremation. The driver initially stayed at the spot but later fled, and the vehicle was seized by the police.
