Equal pay and maternity leave: What the law says about women’s rights
South African women have legal protections against unfair discrimination, unequal pay, workplace harassment and pregnancy-related dismissal. The Employment Equity Act provides for equal pay for work that is the same, substantially the same or of equal value, while the Basic Conditions of Employment Act provides at least four consecutive months of maternity leave.
