DUET holds Independence Day ceremony

On Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day, the Dawood University of Engineering and Technology (DUET) hosted a ceremony to celebrate the nation’s birth. Mayor Sukkur Barrister Arsalan Islam Shaikh graced the event as the chief guest, while Bilal Waqar Khan, the FPCCI Vice President, served as the guest of honour. The program commenced with the ceremonial raising of the flag, followed by a cake-cutting ceremony commemorating the recently inked Joint Makkah Agreement between Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Pakistan.

Sweet Home and Little Angels students showcased tableaux, and DUET students presented speeches emphasizing the importance of Independence Day.

Mayor Arsalan Islam Shaikh lauded the students' performances, awarding Rs25,000 each to the Sweet Home children who participated in the tableaux and Rs50,000 each to the DUET students delivering speeches. The mayor further pledged his unwavering support for the development of DUET’s Centre of Entrepreneurship, Management, and Emerging Technologies (CEMET) in Sukkur, expressing his commitment to the centre’s continued growth.

In her closing remarks, DUET Vice Chancellor Dr. Samreen Hussain expressed gratitude to the District Council Sukkur and the Sukkur Chamber of Commerce & Industry for their assistance, describing the event as a triumphant example of a collaborative effort among academia, government, and industry. She also extended her thanks to Mayor Arsalan Islam Shaikh for his ongoing support and facilities at the centre.
