Dev Anand made Govinda buy bungalows for his staff: ‘They are defaming you’

Govinda has long been known for spending significant time on set with senior actors, including Dilip Kumar, Rajesh Khanna, Dharmendra, Amitabh Bachchan, and Dev Anand. Anand's assistance extended beyond just on-set support, as he also made efforts to protect Govinda's private life from being leaked publicly. One day, Dev Anand approached Govinda and suggested that he fire his drivers, as they were reportedly leaking personal information about Govinda, thus causing harm to his reputation.

Govinda, however, refused to fire his drivers, citing their families and children who would be negatively affected by such an action.

In response, Dev Anand proposed a unique solution: asking the drivers to purchase bungalow-like houses as compensation. This gesture was accepted by Govinda, who had always admired and valued Dev Anand's advice. The actor, who was also known for working long hours on set alongside senior actors, defended his practice of arriving late, explaining that it was due to the demanding nature of his work, which often required him to do multiple shifts in a day.

Govinda acknowledged that his late arrival was unavoidable and that his co-actors, who earned significant income from their roles, were ultimately benefited from his presence on set.
