Cars24 Launches Enterprise AI Company Deployment Inc, Invests $5 Mn

Cars24, a used car marketplace, has launched an independent enterprise AI company called Deployment Inc. The startup aims to assist organizations in designing, implementing, and operating AI systems across crucial business workflows. Deployment Inc, led by Cars24's executive Jayesh Gupta and former xAI backend engineering specialist Aayush Gupta, has secured $5 Mn in seed funding from Cars24 to expand its workforce.

With this capital, the AI startup plans to hire 50 engineers this month, including AI strategy and go-to-market professionals.

Deployment Inc's business model revolves around a team of forward deployed engineers (FDEs) who work within a customer's organization to tackle fragmented deployment procedures. These FDEs will solve specific, high-value workflows and ensure agreed business metrics are met, connecting necessary models to the company's data and systems. Once deployed, the workflow will be benchmarked against existing processes, and FDEs will remain involved until the system operates reliably at scale.

Deployment Inc has been designated an OpenAI Select Partner for enterprise deployments, enabling it to leverage OpenAI's frontier capabilities and its own engineering and implementation expertise to build production AI systems for customers. The startup's inception stems from Cars24's internally developed AI operating model, which has improved service-request turnaround time from 32 hours to 30 minutes and halved inspection times. Engineering team output has also increased threefold.

The launch of Deployment Inc coincides with a larger shift in India's enterprise tech sector, where enterprises are transitioning from AI proof-of-concept experiments to production-grade deployments. However, these deployments require significant resources, and most enterprises currently lack the necessary teams to manage the entire process.

Consequently, FDEs have emerged as a critical layer, helping frontier AI models function reliably within a company's workflows, data infrastructure, and business processes. As a result, the demand for FDEs has surged globally, with fresh salaries spiking to ₹9 Lakh – ₹12 Lakh annually, and mid-level professionals commanding packages ranging from ₹25 Lakh to ₹40 Lakh.

This growing emphasis on FDEs reflects a broader shift in the enterprise AI market, moving from selling AI capabilities to taking greater ownership of whether those capabilities translate into measurable business outcomes.
